recipe of coconut chutney

Coconut chutney is specially serve with south Indian dishes like Idli, Dhosa, Uttapam, etc. In short, south Indian dish is incomplete without coconut chutney. 

1. 1 cup chopped coconuts (remove skin)
2. 2 tbsp chana daal
3. 1 cup curd (dahi)
4. 2 green chilies finely chopped
5. 1 teaspoon lemon juice
6. 1/2 cup of water
7. 3 teaspoon Oil
8. Pinch Asafetida Powder (Hing)
9. 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
10. 2 dry Red chilies
11. 5 - 6 curry leaves

1. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a pan, add chana daal in it and roast it till become light brown.
2. Take a mixer bowl, add chopped coconut, roasted chana dal in it and blend it properly.
3. Now, add curd, green chilies, salt and blend it properly.
4. Now, add lemon juice and little water in it and blend it properly.
5. Now, heat 2 teaspoon oil in a pan, add mustard seeds in it when it crackle add pinch asafetida (hing) , curry leaves and dry red chilies in it and saute for few seconds.
6. Now, transfer this seasoning into the coconut chutney and serve it with south Indian dishes.

Tip: Homemade coconut chutney store in refrigerator for a week.
